Governance and Leadership
The Neurocentre of Eastern Ontario (NEO) operates under a structured governance and leadership framework designed to ensure safe, ethical, and high-quality healthcare delivery. Governance at NEO focuses on maintaining clinical excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting patient safety, and promoting continuous quality improvement.
The clinic’s leadership oversees strategic direction, operational management, and clinical standards to ensure that patients receive care that is evidence-based, patient-centered, and delivered in accordance with professional and regulatory requirements.
NEO’s governance approach emphasizes accountability, transparency, and responsible healthcare management. Policies and procedures are implemented to support quality care, protect patient privacy, maintain professional standards, and ensure that the clinic operates in compliance with applicable healthcare legislation and professional guidelines.
Clinical governance includes oversight of patient safety initiatives, infection prevention and control practices, quality improvement activities, staff training, and the review of clinical protocols and procedures.
NEO also works collaboratively with healthcare partners, referring providers, and research organizations to support integrated care and the advancement of neurological health services in the region.
Founder
The Neurocentre of Eastern Ontario was founded by Dr. Ramana Appireddy, a neurologist dedicated to improving access to specialized neurological care in Eastern Ontario.
Dr. Appireddy completed his medical and neurology training and has been involved in both clinical practice and clinical research in Canada. He has participated in several national and international clinical research initiatives, particularly in the areas of stroke care and neurological disorders. Through his work in both academic and community settings, he recognized the need for expanded access to outpatient neurological services in the Kingston region.
With this vision, Dr. Appireddy established the Neurocentre of Eastern Ontario to provide a modern, community-based neurology clinic that integrates specialized clinical care, patient-focused services, and clinical research opportunities.
In addition to clinical care, Dr. Appireddy is involved in research initiatives through collaboration with the Limestone Clinical Trials Unit, supporting the development and implementation of clinical trials designed to advance neurological treatment and patient outcomes.
Through this integrated approach, NEO aims to improve access to neurological expertise, support referring healthcare providers, and contribute to the advancement of neurological care and research in Eastern Ontario.
