Patient Rights
At the Neurocentre of Eastern Ontario (NEO), we are committed to providing care that respects the dignity, privacy, and individual needs of every patient. We believe that patients play an important role in their own healthcare and should be treated with respect, fairness, and compassion.
The following principles outline the rights of patients receiving care at NEO.
Right to Respect and Dignity: Patients have the right to be treated with courtesy, respect, and dignity at all times. Care will be provided in a professional environment that respects cultural, personal, and individual values.
Right to Safe and Quality Care: Patients have the right to receive care that meets professional standards and is delivered in a safe and supportive clinical environment.
Right to Information: Patients have the right to receive clear and understandable information about their health condition, proposed tests, treatments, and available options. This information helps patients make informed decisions about their care.
Right to Informed Consent: Patients have the right to participate in decisions about their care and to provide informed consent before undergoing tests, procedures, or treatments. Patients also have the right to ask questions and request additional information before making decisions.
Right to Privacy and Confidentiality: Patients have the right to expect that their personal and health information will be protected and kept confidential in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
Right to Participate in Care: Patients have the right to be actively involved in decisions about their healthcare and to discuss concerns or preferences with their healthcare provider.
Right to Ask Questions: Patients have the right to ask questions about their diagnosis, treatment options, medications, and follow-up care. Our healthcare team is committed to providing information that supports patient understanding.
Right to Provide Feedback or Raise Concerns: Patients have the right to express concerns or provide feedback about their care without fear that it will affect the services they receive. Feedback helps us improve the quality and safety of care.
NEO is committed to maintaining a respectful and supportive healthcare environment where patient rights are recognized and upheld.
